Levitating Santa Sleigh, Magnetic Floating Santa and Reindeer Above an LED Base, Classic or Winter Village Scene, USB, 28 cm

It Really Floats

Set the sleigh above the base, let go, and it stays there: Santa and three reindeer hovering about 2 cm in the air, turning slowly. There is no wire and no stand. A magnet in the sleigh pushes against an electromagnet in the base, and the base corrects a thousand times a second to keep it level.

The Thing Everyone Has to Touch

Guests wave a hand underneath to check. Children spin it with a fingertip and watch it keep turning. It sits on the hall table, the mantel or the sideboard and gets more attention than the tree.

Classic or Winter Village

Classic is the red-and-gold sleigh over a black octagonal base with a warm LED ring. Winter Village sets the same sleigh over a snowy scene with lit cottages, fir trees and a frozen pond, so Santa flies over a town.

USB, With a Minute of Practice

Plug the base into a USB socket, hold the sleigh a few centimetres above the centre, feel it catch, and release. The first time takes a minute; after that it is a second. If the power cuts, the sleigh drops onto the padded base.

The Numbers That Matter

Strong magnets: keep away from pacemakers, cards and watches. Not a toy.
